A Little Badass.

Leather Jacket
I’ve never been a girly girl (well, not since I was twelve), but I’ve also never been tempted by the tom-boy look…up until now. I’ve recently been seduced by the heavy-booted, the leather-draped and the studded fashions reviving grunge from the 90s. A fickle and timely trend, I know, but I’ve started buying and now there’s no turning back. Influenced by the Madonna’s, the Ri-Ri’s, the Tomb Raiders, and any badass woman in skinny jeans and a boot with tread, this trend is my most recent lust.

Quick note: there’s a fine line between tres magnifique and trashy, so get it right, making sure there’s at least one basic item smoothing out that styling. Example – if you’re gonna rock a leather jacket or muscle tee, make sure your skinny jeans are plain, sleek and single-coloured. Alternatively, with torn and distressed jeans, pair with a white tee, structured jacket and a heavy boot. As always, don’t forget the statement accessory.

Structured Jacket

Wayfarers also don’t go amiss. Think James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. The baddest badass there ever was! You don’t have to go for the Ray Bans – try these ones here as a cheap alternative – only $33.29!
Anyway: what have I done about this trend love affair so far? It all started with my Nasty Gal leather vest (below), and was followed by a similar denim one from Sportsgirl, a pair of all black Converse Hi-Tops from SurfStitch, some oversized boyfriend tees from Asos, and the black skinny jean (a staple that every female should be ashamed not to own).

This trend doesn’t have to be a casual one either – mash feminine chic with badass behaviour by donning severe black lines, angled shoulders and a heavy eye makeup. Top it off with sky-high stillettos and no ones gonna be messing with you.

My next purchases to add to this trend? A grungy beanie, to be worn with my hair out, unbrushed and salt-sprayed for texture! ALSO: some military style boots, and an army-green military jacket (eyeing one off fromCotton On for only $59.99!)
