It’s de-ja-vu. NO, it’s dress-ja-vu. I buy a dress and my obsessive-compulsively arranged wardrobe is all of a sudden even more severely lacking in colour. The Little Black Dress is a trophy piece, but I (somewhat unfortunately) have dozens – meaning more than I might need. I’m obsessed with blacks, and I’m not lacking in whites or creams, either. My skin tone prohibits any pinks, peaches or taupe colours (making me look disturbingly naked from afar), so adding colour to my wardrobe has always been a fine art.
I’ll admit – I’ve always had a love affair with orange, but this summer for me, it’s been all about the blues! Deep royals and bright aquas are just the right shades to get that summer glow popping and to set off blue, green or hazel eyes.

Elie Saab Spring Summer 2013 Ready to wear collection.
I started thinking about this as I saw the flocks of beautiful women gracing the Golden Globes red carpet in whites, nudes and creams. Plain canvases, ready for the painting. The air is fresh and the Australian summer is flourishing, and all I’m seeing is aqua oceans and opalescent skies. It’s inspiring, for my purchases in any case.
A couple of things I’ve purchased under this inspiration recently…
Bless’ed Are The Meek skirt from SurfStitch.com.
Roxy bikini from SurfStitch.com.
Playsuit from Beginning Boutique and even my Beach Cruiser from oo.com.au!
Then of course there’s my wishlist.
There’s no blue feelings about these bursts of colour.
