My love, Naked 2.

I got Naked recently. The Naked 2 eyeshadow palette by Urban Decay. It is heavenly and we will be together forever. I’ve always been drawn to nude and earthy colours for makeup, and when Laura showed me this palette that she had received for her birthday, I fell in deep deep love and have been smitten ever since. Having a green eye and olive skin, deep browns and bronze colours seem to suit me best. I’ve never been one for the outrageous blues, purples and greens that come in and out of runway fashion, so the nudes are where it’s at for me. Laura’s brown eyed and she’s still swayed down the same colour scheme path as me.

The nude colour palette is so versatile, and one of the reasons it’s so great is that you can go either way with it. The lighter shades of taupe and tan, with highlight accentuations in the inner eye for daywear and work, paired with bronzer will give you that flawless summery glow (as above). Deeper shades of bronze with black shadowing or deeper line on the other hand, take you from bright to sultry and get you ready for a night out. I love the bronze and black version of the smokey eye below. How to take it home? Draw your lighter bronze colour over the entire lid, throw a highlight colour on the brow and in the crease of the eye, and draw a sideways v-shape with your deeper blackish colour in the outer corner of your eye, remembering to smudge your little heart out and also line the bottom lid with it. Finish with some heavy mascara!

Shimmery bronze colours (as below) can also look great. Less natural but a great addition to your Little Black Dress.

Other faves to help this look out: Maybelline Gel Liner – around $15, and stays for days. Great with nude eye and bold lip. For the lip: Revlon Stay Matte Lipcolor in Fabulous Fig. Not too pinky, bit more brown-red so very suited!
