We’ve been wearing them since we were teeny tots running amok in kindergarten. For those real stylers among us, maybe even earlier.
But I think when we hit puberty – we females anyway – we ditched the classic T-Shirt for its slutty cousins, those low-cut, skin-showing, sleeve-less shirts that bring the boys to the yard faster than your average milkshake. There’s nothing wrong with this at all; it’s a rite of passage. It’s a little sad though, that we forget the joys, the sexiness and the versatility of a good ol’ Tee.
Please, for the love of Beyonce, let me remind you all.
This bad boy (see above) is #1 on my shopping list this week. The vinyl front is to die for and will turn your going-to-the-grocery-store-daggy-tee-and-jeans-combo into a fashion forward phenomenon. Or alternatively, pair with a black mini, black platform bootie/sneakers and black leather cap. Can you IMAGINE? Divine.
AND this Tee has real sleeves. By real, I mean none of this cap sleeve shit. I’m not a fan of the cap – I like a sleeve that, a) has a little breathing room, nobody likes a sweat mark, b) doesn’t cling to those seemingly unavoidable clusters of arm fat and, c) sits about halfway between my shoulder and elbow. It sounds like a lot but I really don’t think that’s asking much.

Witchery Layered Front Tee $69.95
Now Witchery describe this as a cap sleeve but I think this sleeve length is completely acceptable. No awkward clinging or armpit visibility. The layered front works as an instant dresser-upper-rer. Pair with skinny jeans in a dark blue wash and stiletto boots and you have the perfect Autumn outfit. Win.

Witchery Ocelot Tee $129.95
Now, this one is a little exxy for someone on a limited budget like moi, but you’ll soon come to learn that I make ludicrous exceptions for leopard. But that is for another post entirely. This is just so darn cute and the perfect cropped accompaniment to anything high-waisted. ANYTHING I TELL YOU! Skirt, shorts, jeans…anything!

And finally, my latest prized possession, my Adidas Trefoil Tee. Like most girls dream of their wedding, I have dreamed of owning this Tee since I was a little girl. There’s something so innately cool about the simplicity. It says confidence to me. Sport and fashion and comfort all in one. If you’re thinking this shirt and I should get a room don’t worry. We already have. I got mine at my local Footlocker - 2 for $40 or $30 each. They also had a variety of colour combos and sizes which makes the 2 for $40 deal make much more sense.

I bought the Men’s shirt in a Small because I like the longer sleeves, thick neckline and boxy fit better. None of this slim fit business up in here. Wear with denim cut-offs and your sweetest kicks. Platform sneakers work a treat. Also, hair down please. This look is a little tom-boy and needs to be countered with a feminine edge. And finally, below is a little delightful celeb inspo.
